This past weekend Brandon's mom came down to spend the weekend with us. She had a good trip down from Stafford, and didn't hit too much traffic except for the crazy tunnels!!! And there is no rhyme or reason when they will be backed up. We promptly took her to Doumar's to enjoy some yummy dinner, perhaps the best homemade ice cream cones around. For those of you who are Food Network fan's you might have caught the story on Doumar's on Diner's Drive-In's and Dives. Abe Doumar is the creator of the waffle cone and they still make them onsite daily with the original machine. They are so delicious. And their old fashioned soda fountain is a big hit too. Here is their webiste in case you want to check it out http://www.doumars.com/.

On Saturday we took her to the Waterside in downtown Norfolk and had lunch at Gillian's. We sat right by the window and watched the ferry, and some yachts pull in and out. Yup, we might own one of those yachts one of these days!! Very wishful thinking! We walked down to the battleship Wisconsin and were able to check out a little more of the ship than we did when my mom was here. We started to go through the Naval History Museum but there was a fire alarm and we had to evacuate. Always a little nerve wracking. So it was back home for dinner and ice cream at the house.

On Sunday we went to the Cape Henry Lighthouse and Fort Story. Then it was off to the Botanical Gardens for lots and lots of walking. It cleared off and turned out to be a really beautiful day.

Before she headed back to his sister's house on Monday we had one more stop for her. We took her to Joes' Crab Shack for lunch and as you can see, I think she enjoyed her crab legs!!! They were mmm-mmm good! Thanks for coming to visit Meme!!! Hope to see you again soon, and hope Papaw can come too!
The guest room is vacant again....who's up for a visit??? We are up for more visitors!!!
