Virginia Vs. New Hampshire

The weather forecasters had predicted on Monday that the Norfolk area was going to get some snow. Now you would have thought that the world just might come to an end with this forecast. Everyone was panicked and freaking out about what they were going to do with the snow. The newscasts had all the stories on about the Virginia DOT prepping all their snow removal equipment, which compared to NH isn't that much. Anywho....we got up for work yesterday morning thinking that we might see some snow. Nope. No snow. But on the way to work I heard on the radio that all the local schools were cancelled. I thought that was strange since it only sounded like there was 5 inches predicted at the most. But I know they are not prepared like us diehard New Englanders. I was even more surprised to find out that they had pretreated all the road and every walkway was salted as well. We went through the day and lunch time rolled around. At least half of out patients cancelled, fearing the inclement weather. And we waited some more. And low and behold, what happened around 2 in the afternoon....the skies cleared and the sun came out!!! Yeah, can you believe it??? Not one stinking flake of snow. I was so disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, I have no desire to try and navigate the roads around here with the crazy locals in the snow, but a little snow would have been pretty. The irony of all of it is, that now the newscasters are blaming the weather people for not giving an accurate forecast, and they can't understand how come all the schools were closed for no reason. The poor weather people...they can't win!!! I guess it's a little different around here. 5 inches of snow at home was nothing, round here, the world darn near comes to a standstill!! Too funny. Guess I am not in New England anymore!
