Mom's Trip To Chesapeake

Mom flew in on Saturday 8/9 and we have been keeping her busy ever since. Of course she went to work and quickly whipped up a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for Brandon. He is loving every bite of it. We have also had a blast breaking out some games. Every summer Mom, Jason and I used to play a ton of games in the evening. We picked up Attack UNO and that has been the game of the week. We even played into the wee hours of the morning Saturday night. Just a few pics from our family game night.
Mom and I went to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens http://www.norfolkbotanicalgarden.org/ earlier in the week. It is about 155 acres of beautifully themed gardens and walking trails. The bicentennial rose garden was absolutely gorgeous. Along with her visit she has brought us some nice weather...in the 70's and not too humid. It was a beautiful place to visit and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Just a few pictures of some of the things we saw. Might need to make some of them larger to see the butterflies, etc.
Mom and one of the many Myrtle Trees.
Watch out for that Snake!!! Came pretty close to stepping on him, and that would not have been a pleasant surprise!

Inside the gazebo at the butterfly garden were all these really interesting bee's nests, and other insect nests. Thought they were pretty cool, until we looked on the other side and say this big old spider and then we decided it was time to makea quick exit. He was the biggest spider I have ever seen.
Beautiful Butterflies.
The Rose Garden.
And lots and lots of turtles.
It has been a fun week, and it will sad to have her leave. I hope that she has had fun. We took a ride down to Virginia Beach today, although the weather was kind of rainy and cloudy it was still fun. And she has been my shopping buddy for all the little errands I have had to run. It is official, I am back to work on Monday. Vacation will officially be over!!! It has been fun while it lasted, but I am very much ready to be out of the house again. It gets to be a little to quiet all day everyday. Thank goodness for email, or I would have surely gone stir crazy a long time ago. Off to finish up dinner! Hope everyone is having a great week!
