Checking in From Chesapeake

Hey all, thought we would give you a little update as to what's been going on around here lately. Nothing too exciting, which might not be a bad thing! Perhaps the most excitement in the past week happened while I was waiting out a 3+ hour layover at Laguardia Airport in New York. I usually don't have issues with layovers, especially since there are usually some interesting people to watch in an airport. There is always something going on. Plus Laguardia has a Dunkin' Donuts and since I am DD deprived here in Virginia, I got my large hazlenut regular (and it is a pleasure when the people who make your coffee know what regular means...don't know about "regular" in Virginia either!!!) and was a happy camper. It was pouring in New York that day and I was pretty sure that we were going to be a little delayed so I settled in with my iPod and a good book. A few minutes later I noticed a commotion at the next gate. I popped out the headphones to see what the scoop was. This boy about 7ish or so was wandering up to different people and all of a sudden those people would quickly move or pick up a bag. I thought it was a spider....well....not so much. It was a field mouse. Now those of you with kiddos now that this little boy was just about in his glory following this mouse around, complete with big huge smile on his face. So you have a pretty good visual now. Along comes the cleaning lady with her little broom and the little bucket to sweep the trash into. She walks up ( she was kind of a scary lady!) takes her broom, smacks it down on the mouse then proceeds to step on top of the broom and crunch the mouse!!!! This little boy's face was just crushed. He was so sad, and his parents just stared in awe as the cleaning lady just swept it up and went on her merry way. Yup, didn't expect that kind of layover entertainment. I figured it was a fluke thing, a mouse came in with all the heavy rains maybe. I got comfy again with my book and tunes, and a while later another mouse runs by me. Oh no...one was okay but not two. Needless to say I spent the rest of my time with my bag on the chair beside me. I wasn't taking any chances on bringing home any visitors and I don't think field mice can climb chairs yet!!!

Once arriving home I did find a nice surprise for me in the garage. The pictures below show off the newly renovated "Man Town". Brandon cleaned and organized it to fit my car so I can happily hide from my favorite neighbor. I am very surprised that I have not heard from dear old Ms. Conway since I have been home. Brandon had some of the work buddies over last Friday night for a cookout and to relax, etc. And I am sure she wasn't pleased with that. See what happens when you let the "Yankees" move in across the street. The neighborhood will never be the same. Thanks for checking in! More posts soon!
